Area rugs
If you are choosing an area rug for your dining room, you want to make sure that the back of the dining room chairs do not hang off the rug. This makes it difficult for anyone sitting in the chair who wants to scoot closer to the table. The best way to ensure this is to have someone sit in a chair comfortably at the table and then add six inches to where the back legs of the chair end.
Living room rugs offer a little more flexibility since the furniture in that room is not often moved for comfort. The only thing to keep in mind is that a rug that ends in front of your furniture is too small.
Artificial flowers
Just a few tips on how to care for your indoor garden.
* Wash polyester flowers in a solution of mild soap and lukewarm water.
* Blow any dust off them with a blow dryer set on low cool at low speed.
* Use a vacuum cleaner hose attached to the out-air hole to dust large fake trees.
* When you put seasonal arrangements away, place them in a large plastic bag and store in a cool, dry, dark place.
Furniture Refinishing
When sanding small areas like spindles or grooves, wrap your sandpaper around something flat and flexible, like a dog's collar, and pull it back and forth on the area to be sanded...the edge will get right into the groove, and you fingers will be saved.
To paint these small areas and grooves, use a Q-tip dipped in your paint.
If your paint is old and lumpy, stir as best you can, then strain through an old stocking into a new container and paint away!
